Jethro K. Lieberman is Professor of Law and Vice President of Academic Publishing at New York Law School, where he has taught for more than twenty-five years. He holds a bachelor`s degree in politics and economics from Yale University, a juris doctor from Harvard Law School, and a doctorate in political science from Columbia University. He began teaching at Fordham University School of Law. Previously, he was Vice-President of what is now the International Institute for Conflict Prevention and Resolution (RPC). For nearly a decade, he was legal affairs editor for Business Week magazine. He practiced antitrust and trade regulation law at a large Washington law firm and was on active duty during the Vietnam era as a member of the Navy`s Judge Advocate General`s Corps (JAG). He is the author of The Litigious Society (Basic Books), winner of the American Bar Association`s first literary award, the Silver Gavel, and the author of A Practical Companion to the Constitution: How the Supreme Court Has Ruled on Issues from Abortion to Zoning (University of California Press). He is a long-time book printer and owner of The Press at James Pond, a private newspaper, and owner of the historic Kelmscott-Goudy Press, an Albion hand press used to print the Kelmscott Press edition of Geoffrey Chaucer`s Canterbury Tales in the 1890s. Course Description: This is a course that provides a meaningful account of the functioning and interaction of public and private law in the political and socio-economic environment. This is achieved by studying the federal and state legal system and the laws that regulate commercial organizations. Daniel M. Warner is a magna laude graduate of the University of Washington, where he also studied law after his military service.

After several years of civil practice, he joined the faculty of the College of Business and Economics at Western Washington University in 1978, where he is now Professor of Business Law in the Department of Accounting. He has published extensively exploring the intersection of popular culture and law, and has received the College of Business` Dean`s Research Award five times for his “outstanding contributions to published research.” Professor Warner was a member of Whatcom County Council for eight years (two years as chairman). He has served as a member of the Faculty Senate and of various university and college committees, including as Chair of the University`s Master Plan Committee. Professor Warner has also been active in the work of State Bar Association committees and in local politics, where he served on numerous boards and commissions for over thirty years. Theme 12: European Union law. Introduction to the rapid evolution of European Union law, with a particular focus on commercial applications and comparisons with US law. Theme 13: Contracts and real estate.
