The Green Bag Legal Journal

The profile page of this magazine has not yet been claimed by an official representative. The Green Bag, second series, was inspired by the original Green Bag, a legal journal published between 1889 and 1914 and popular in the progressive era. Among the offerings was a series of articles by David Werner Amram, which formed the contents of his 1905 book Leading Cases in the Bible. In these, Amram approached the Bible in the spirit of free scientific inquiry and shed light on legal issues that are also indirectly related to the biblical account. The striking originality of the book and its charming style were of interest to both law students and the Bible. [5] In addition to the journal, Green Bag Press publishes other books of legal interest, including The Green Bag Almanac and Reader, an annual collection of the best legal writings of the year, In Chambers Opinions by the Justices of the Supreme Court of the United States, and The Journal of Law. In addition, the journal publishes an annual list of outstanding legal works. [3] [4] From 2013 to 2015, the Green Bag website and Twitter feed also included a “weekly legal quiz”. It was founded in 1997 by three former University of Chicago School of Law classmates (Ross Davies, David Gossett and Montgomery Kosma). Although it describes itself as an “entertaining” magazine, it is not strictly a journal of humor and questionable work. Rather, The Green Bag aims to publish short, readable articles intended to stimulate discussion.
