Legend of the Seeker premiered in the United States on the weekend of November 1-2, 2008, attracting more than 4.1 million viewers over two days. [37] The first two episodes received a Nielsen average score of 1.5/3 among 54 markets measured, with a score of 1.4/3 on Saturday and a score of 1.7/3 on Sunday. In addition to improving airtime in several leading markets, Legend has also improved viewership in the 18-49 age group across all shows. In its first month of broadcast, the show averaged more than 3.6 million viewers.[38] It was renewed for a second season after averaging 2.0 for the first ten episodes.[39] Sam Raimi became interested in adapting The Sword of Truth novels after his business partner Joshua Donen encouraged him to read the books,[4] and in turn gave the books to Robert Tapert to read.[1] [5] Raimi considered turning the first book into a five-part movie or miniseries, but then decided to create a weekly TV series after speaking with the book`s author, Terry Goodkind. [4] A weekly television show would allow them to record most of the stories and important aspects of the series. Goodkind had refused to sell the rights to his books several times before meeting Raimi because he wasn`t sure other producers would maintain the integrity of his stories and characters. [6] Raimi, who produced Hercules: The Legendary Journeys and Xena: Warrior Princess with Tapert and Ned Nalle, saw this as an opportunity to return to the first syndicated television company. However, syndicated television activity had declined after the loss of important foreign markets around the year 2000. But with the older smaller networks, UPN and WB, replaced by a struggling The CW that could disappear, the timing seemed propitious. [2] If you`re interested in fantasy and can`t wait until 2010, when The Hobbit, the “prequel” of J.R.R.`s Lord of the Rings.
Tolkien, should be released on the big screen, how about Legend of the Seeker in the meantime? Not to be confused with the recent The Seeker – The Dark is Rising, this new series (consisting of 22 episodes) is instead based on Terry Goodkind`s Wizard`s First Rule, the first book in his New York Times bestselling novel series Sword of Truth. Originally called Wizard`s First Rule (after the first book in The Sword of Truth series), the series was renamed Legend of the Seeker at Goodkind`s suggestion because the producers wanted to distinguish the series from the books, it would have been too restrictive for them to include only the plots of the first book, and because it would give them the opportunity to cover the story in all the books in the series. [6] Keith Parkinson`s cover for the cover of the first issue of Wizard`s First Rule (see below) shows Richard and Kahlan in a scene whose details have been hotly debated. It has been suggested that it was an adaptation of the scene where Richard and Kahlan meet, with Parkinson depicting the event next to a waterfall rather than on a mountain trail to illustrate the importance of the moment. It has also been speculated that the scene is Richard`s dream to take Kahlan with him to see all the special places he discovered in the forests of Hartland. Speaking of mandatory. It seems that if your name is Terry and you want to become a writer, it is mandatory for you to write fantasy novels: Terry Brooks, Terry Pratchett, Terry Goodkind. (Do you know of any mote terrys who deal with fantasy literature? So let me know [email protected]) The series premiered in the United States on November 1, 2008 and aired weekly on Saturdays or Sundays, depending on the local TV station. It is based on the novel Wizard`s First Rule. In addition to the 22 episodes of the first season, the series was renewed by Disney for a second season. [1] I also just started reading the book series (finally) after having it in my library for many years.
I just finished the first book last night after reading it continuously for a few days, I couldn`t put it down. So today I decided to try Legend of the Seekers 1.1, I believe the actor/actress of Richard and Kahlen is decent and fits the characters (as best I can after building them in my head), but other than that, there`s not much else to trade.
